Contraband tablets, improvised charger recovered from Tihar

Two mobile phones without SIM cards, an improvised charger, batteries, 200 gm tobacco and a few contraband tablets — all concealed within tennis balls — were recovered from the premises of Tihar jail on Wednesday. According to prison authorities, the incident was reported around 4.30 AM when an ITBP guard saw unidentified persons throwing a baggage near Central Jail number 8 and 9. He alerted prison guards and an intensive search operation was conducted immediately, they said. The guards recovered several tennis balls from near ward no. 1 and 2 in the central jail. The balls contained two mobile phones without SIM cards, an improvised charger, batteries, 200 gm tobacco and a few contraband tablets, said an official.
