Construction material supplier shot at in Tiljala

Tension ran high at Martinpara area of Tiljala on Saturday night after a construction material supplier was shot at by some miscreants.

The incident occurred when the victim, Mohammad Shamim alias Kalu Pappu was returning home on a motorcycle.

Police said that a gang comprising four members came on two motorcycles and blocked his way.

When the victim, Shamim somehow managed to dodge them and accelerated the speed of his bike, 

one of the accused took out a gun and shot at him.

After receiving two bullet injuries on his chest, the victim fell on the road.

Some local residents heard the sound of shooting and rushed to the spot to find the victim lying in a pool of blood.

The accused had fled the spot immediately after the incident. The local people took the victim to a private nursing home on the EM Bypass where he has been undergoing treatment.

According to the doctors, his condition is stated to be in a serious condition.

Police came to know in the investigation that the victim is an aide to a local promoter and supplies 

construction materials to the promoter.

According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that an old business rivalry could have led to 

the incident.

Police were interrogating the local people and started a detailed probe into the incident.

After initiating a probe, the police came to know that the victim had engaged in a quarrel with some 

people over supplying of business materials.

The victim’s family members told the police that some persons were threatening the victim for past few days.

Though, Shamim never told his family members about the persons who were threatening him with dire consequences.

Police are, however, investigating whether there is any other angle into the incident.

Raids are being made to nab the culprits.
