Constable commits suicide in Vasant Kunj

A 35-year-old constable of Delhi Police committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Vasant Kunj (South) area allegedly due to family related problems, police said on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Suresh Kumar Yadav. He allegedly committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan at his home in Rajokari village of Vasant Kunj (South) on Thursday night, said a police officer.

Yadav was at home the whole day and reportedly confined himself in a room at around 9 pm. His wife Asha Devi and two children aged 9 and 2 years were inside the house when he committed suicide. Later, his wife found Yadav’s body hanging from the ceiling fan. He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, said the officer.

A suicide note was found in the room in which Yadav mentioned “family problems” as the reason for his extreme step, he said. This is the second incident of suicide by a Delhi Police constable in the recent past. A constable Raja Ram on duty had shot himself while on duty at Domestic Airport police station.
