Connaught Place to have stricter surveillance

Given the fact that Connaught Place (CP) is one of Delhi’s most important business and recreational hub, the Delhi police takes extra care in ensuring the protection of this area.
At any given time of the day, there is always a good presence of police officers across CP. Around 170 police personnel are deployed at the Connaught Place police station. Both men and women officers stand guard to ensure the safety of the market area.

And now the police has decided to further strengthen the security net around CP. At least 300 new close circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be installed in CP in the next two-three months.

‘Being the commercial hub of the capital, the area under the jurisdiction of CP police station will be coming up with 300 more CCTV cameras within two-three months,’ an officer informed.

‘As of now we have 27 cameras in Janpath market. The Inner Circle and Outer Cirlce of CP have more than 100 cameras installed to keep a close watch on notorious elements, while Palika Bazar has 49 cameras in the market,’ the officer added.

The Police officials have initiated a crackdown on establishments in the area that have installed the CCTV cameras but either their technology is outdated aren’t properly functional because of other reasons. ‘If a problems arises in any of the CCTV cameras we will make it a point to immediately repair the camera within a day or two,’ an
officer said.
