Congress slams PM for favouring capitalists

Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio address Mann ki Baat on the issue of Land Bill, the Congress criticised him for favouring capitalists. Congress leader Randeep Surjewala on Sunday said: “Prime Minister’s Maan ki baat on Sunday turned out to be a lie and was proved to be for capitalists. The farmers have now come to a conclusion that both Modi and unseasonal rains are responsible for the bad condition. Instead of giving compensation to those affected by hailstorm and rain, he has just given false assurances.”

He further added: “We would like to ask Prime Minister Modi why his government destroyed the soul and body of 2013 Land Acquisition Bill. The new law is for capitalists, and to justify that they are making false promises and telling lies.” Jairam Ramesh hit out saying: “What PM Modi has said today (Sunday) in Mann ki Baat is not only wrong but also a lie, this Land Bill is against farmers. We are clear on what we want and that is nothing except the law passed in 2013.”

Furthermore, senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel tweeted: “Today farmers are committing suicide and jawans being killed. But one year back PM candidate promised the moon to them. One year back, PM candidate promised 50 per cent MSP hike for farmers, but in Parliament govt rejects this.”
The Congress president Sonia Gandhi has taken up the task of fighting for this cause herself, as she recently was on a tour to BJP-ruled Rajasthan and Haryana to take up the issue of compensation for the farmers.
