Congress party misused official agencies: BJP

With reports emerging that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to name the late Pramod Mahajan in the 2G spectrum scam, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday alleged that this shows the misuse of the official agencies by the Congress party.‘They were not getting any name from the NDA so they have picked on the name of Pramod Mahajan. One cannot push politics lower than this. This is like pushing political vendetta to the lowest nadir,’ said BJP Spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman.

Pramod Mahajan’s name has come up over his alleged role in irregularities in the allocation of additional 2G spectrum to selected companies during his tenure as the telecom minister between 2001 and 2003. The BJP said that it will fight this move of the Congress party inside and outside Parliament. Seetharaman alleged that it is the cabinet ministers of the UPA government who are reportedly involved in the spectrum scam and they haven’t been questioned yet. ‘Very clearly the accused who are in the Cabinet even on Wednesday have not been questioned. In fact, there is an attempt at stalling the process,’ said Sitharaman. The CBI spokesperson however said that chargesheet in the Pramod Mahajan case would be filed by September and a decision has not be taken whether his name will be in the charge sheet or not.
