Around five to six miscreants stopped Nayem in a desserted place and asked him to explain the reason behind supporting Trinamool Congress. They slapped him when he said that the government led by Mamata Banerjee had undertaken various projects for an overall development of the state and it inspired him to support Trinamool Congress.

The accused threatened him not to campaign for Trinamool Congress and asked him to stop attending any meeting organised by the party.

The situation turned worse when he refused to accept their proposal after which the accused stabbed him in his stomach. People in the area were shocked when they suddenly heard the victim’s cry for help and rushed to the spot. The local people rescued the victim and took him to Malda Medical College and Hospital, where he was admitted with severe injuries.

Other workers and leaders of Trinamool Congress from the area also rushed to the spot. The victim’s family members lodged a complaint with the police.
