Cong to provide reservations to EWS

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday reiterated that the Congress government will provide reservations to the economically weaker sections from the general category without disturbing the existing caste based reservation system as envisaged by the makers of our constitution led by Dr BR Ambedkar.

Interacting with students who had come from across the state of Punjab with suggestions for party’s manifesto, former Chief Minister of Punjab said, the government will make a provision so that the deserving people from the general category are not left out from the competition for the economic reasons. 

“The provision for the reservation for this section will be made from the general category quota only,” he added. The PCC president also made it categorically clear that the Congress party will continue with the reservation policy as it exists in the Constitution of the country.
