Cong, LF skips All Party Meeting on demonetisation

Congress and Left Front on Wednesday skipped the All Party Meeting called by Speaker Biman Banerjee of West Bengal Assembly.

The winter session of the Assembly will begin on December 5 where Trinamool Congress had proposed a discussion on the ordeal of common people due to demonetisation of high value notes.

The Congress and Left Front MLAs said they had boycotted the All Party Meeting as the ruling party does not take the opposition into cognisance. Congress leader Abdul Mannan said they wanted a detailed discussion of chit fund and infant trafficking.

He said Congress would bring a non confidence motion against the government. “Important issues like chit fund and infant trafficking needs to be discussed in details. But the state government is reluctant to discuss these issues.”

Asked whether Left Front would support Congress in brining a no-confidence motion he said: “I have
spoken to Sujan Chakraborty. He told me that he would speak with party leaders on the matter.”
Partha Chatterjee said the Opposition was suffering from “a lack of confidence.” The recent results of the by election had caused a severe dent in Congress and Left and so that “were talking without any sense.”
