Cong leaders filled their pockets: Abhishek Banerjee

Congress leaders deprived the people of Murshidabad to fill their pockets, Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamool Congress MP, said here on Tuesday morning.

Addressing party workers, he said leaders and workers from Congress joined Trinamool as they wanted development. “No development took place in the district. The people were deprived while leaders minted money and filled up their pockets,” he said.

The workers’ conference was called to take stock of the party’s organisational strength before Panchayat elections in 2018. All seven municipalities and Zilla Parishads are currently controlled by Trinamool Congress. Most of the Panchayat samitis too are being controlled by the party.

Attacking Adhir Chowdhury, Banerjee said “A day will come when Chowdhury will try to join Trinamool Congress. But Trinamool will not allow this,” he said, alleging Chowdhury tried to play the role of Robin Hood. He took money from some and gave it to others to
become popular.
