Cong leader’s brother killed in Seelampur

A former municipal councillor and Congress leader’s brother was murdered by a group of five unidentified  men late on Wednesday evening in north-east Delhi’s  Seelampur area.
The accused are absconding.

According to police, the 35-year-old victim, Saleem  alias Bobby, forcibly entered the victim’s house at approximately 9.15 pm on Wednesday, when the victim was at home with his family, and opened fire at him. Saleem was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur hospital in the Seelampur area, where he was declared brought dead.

'Preliminary investigations indicate at a personal enmity between Saleem and his killers. But the exact reason for the murder is yet to be ascertained,’ said a police official.
Saleem was the brother of Razia Sultan, a former municipal coucillor from the New Seelampur area.  The victim had many criminal cases registered against him had been recently released from jail.
He is survived by his wife and three children.

Police officials have recovered three live cartridges from the room where the incident took place.
'A case has been registered against the accused under Section 302 (Punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code in New Seelampur police station and investigation is one in the matter,' added the officer.
