Cong high command to settle state leadership issue: Amarinder

Congress leader and former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday said it is up to the party high command to settle the leadership issue in the state.

“It is up to the Congress high command to settle the leadership issue in the state after having met all the MLAs from the state and knowing their views,” Amarinder said here.

Asked about his stand on the issue of party’s leadership in the state, Amarinder said, “My views, as also those of the party legislators, are already known to the party high command and I won’t like to air my views here”.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had met all Congress MLAs from Punjab this week in New Delhi seeking their views on strengthening the party in the state.

Amarinder, the Lok Sabha MP from Amritsar, had sought removal of Bajwa from Congress high command last month to take on the SAD-BJP combine in Punjab. Asked about his participation in the proposed farmers’ rally by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi in Punjab, the Congress leader said that he hoped the leadership issue is sorted out by that time.
