Concern in LS over pvt nursing homes fleecing gullible people

Mahendra Nath Pandey wanted the government to check the mushrooming of such nursing homes and regulate their working, saying many of them even kept bodies of patients on ventilator even after their death to charge hefty fees from their hapless relatives.

“They put patients on ventilators with or without any reason to charge hefty fees. Even after a patient dies, they continue to tell the relatives that treatment was on and charge hefty amounts,” Pandey said during Zero Hour.

He asked the government to put an end to this “menace” by creating a mechanism to regulate private nursing homes.

Rahul Shivale (Shiv Sena) sought permission from Civil Aviation Ministry to allow construction of 18-storeyed buildings as against 12-storey plan at present as part of redevelopment of Mumbai’s Dharavi slums, the largest hutment colony of Asia, located near the airport.

His party colleague Savitribai Phule said the “sudden opening” of barrages in Nepal was creating havoc in the Terai region of northern Uttar Pradesh, flooding large tracts of areas and resulting in massive losses to lives, cattleheads and property.

She asked the government to find a solution to the problem expeditiously.

K Kamaraj (AIADMK) wanted the Centre to initiate steps to list Tamil as the official language in the courts in Tamil Nadu, like Hindi was used in several northern states. “It is imperative that the local language should be the language of the courts to enable delivery of justice,” he said.
