Combative AAP in no mood to let Amit Shah off the hook

Addressing a news conference on Friday, party leaders Ashish Khetan and Yogendra Yadav alleged that the CBI was presenting a “wishy washy and weak” case to the court in Mumbai to give Shah an escape route.

Yadav said that CBI has not yet appointed a special public prosecutor in the case, which reflected the “seriousness” of the investigating agency. He slammed the BJP double-speak on the role of the investigating agency. “Earlier, while in the opposition, the BJP would say that CBI was a Congress Bureau of Investigation, but now, it is doing the same thing. The AAP will raise the issue at every forum to prevent the country’s premier investigating agency from being compromised,” Yadav said.
The CBI has charge-sheeted Shah, a former Minister of State for Home of Gujarat, and 37 others, including several police officers, in the two cases of alleged fake encounters in which gangster Sheikh, his wife and another person were killed.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal  lamented that the BJP was misusing the CBI much like the Congress did. The agency was working at the behest of its political masters and was being used to target political opponents and shielding the powerful in government.
