‘Collaborative approach need of the hour’

It is the fifth year in succession that the focus of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is on Deepwater only proving a point that it is here where the future lies for the industry.

Sudhir Vasudeva, CMD ONGC and chairman ONGC of Companies as conference chairman of the SPE iterated this aspect and said that the workshop theme of ‘Deepwater: Indian Perspective - Global Solutions’  was rather pertinent in the wake of the fact that much of the deepwater lies unexplored.

Sudhir Vasudeva brought the attention of the audience to the fact that 70 bbl of discovered oil and gas are yet to be put on production globally and 182 bbl of oil and gas are yet to be found which will make the activities very frantic in the times to come. He also said that with the emerging technologies and growing understanding of geology the deepwater finds are going to form the mainstay of these activities.

While addressing the gathering Vasudeva gave an overview of the conference structure and asked all the participants to make it a meaningful and learning experience.
