Cold and cloudy days ahead

More chilly and foggy days are ahead as weathermen have predicted a significant drop in temperature due to slight rain in Delhi and heavy snowfall in Himalayan region expected on Thursday and Friday.

‘A western disturbance is proceeding towards India which will cause heavy snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on Thursday and Friday and slight rain in Delhi, which is likely to plunge the temperature in the city in coming days,’ said M Duraisami, Incharge of weather forest center at Regional Meterological Center in Delhi. ‘The thick fog will continue in the city for next two to three days and is likely to become thicker in the next week,’ added Duraisami.The minimum temperature in the city till Friday is likely to hover around 6 to 8 degree Celcius which is expected to plunge further after the snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir reach the city.

‘The cloud of western distrurbance is likely to cause slight rain in the city which will further bring the temperature down,’ added Duraisami. According to weathermen the minimum temperature on Sunday was 5.9 degree Celcius, which was two degrees below the normal. Similarily, the maximum temperature of the city was also recorded to be 18.7 degree Celcius, three notches down the normal temperature. The maximum humidity was recorded 97 per cent and minimum at 67 per cent.

The weathermen have predicted heavy fog on Monday morning which will continute till afternoon followed by mist in the evening. ‘The fog will be get more dense in the coming days,’ say weathermen. On Monay the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 20 degree Celcius and minimum may go below 7 degree Celcius.
