CM to hold meeting with TMC leaders on Dec 26

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will convene a closed door meeting with the key leaders of her party from North 24-Parganas at her residence on December 26 to discuss party’s functioning in the district. 

All her party MPs, MLAs, ministers, chairmen of municipalities, Zilla Parishad members, Sabhadipati and all the panchayat functionaries from the district have been asked to attend the meeting at around 11 am on Saturday. 

Discussions on various development issues will also take place in the meeting. According to the sources, the Chief Minister may also take a stock of the condition of various ongoing projects in the district. This meeting is important in many ways. With the Assembly election scheduled to take place next year, Banerjee may discuss the plans on how to take preparation, what would be her party’s strategy in the forthcoming election. Strategically, North 24-Parganas is an important district because of its proximity to the city. There are four MP seats in the district. 

A bunch of development works which had been initiated in the district may be a top agenda of the discussion, besides the political and organisational discussions. The Chief Minister, being the head of her party, may ask party MPs and MLA’s about the latest condition of those projects that were started in the district after the Trinamool Congress came to power.  Development has always been a top priority of the agenda ever since Banrerjee became the Chief Minister. 

She had convened a number of administrative meetings in the district with all the district officers in last few years so that various ongoing projects could be finished earlier. Banerjee had taken many steps to revamp the jute industry of North 24-Parganas. A committee comprising of group of ministers was formed to look into the jute industry in Barrackpore. The Public Works Department had taken up construction of road in various places of the district with a budget of Rs 800 crore.  

Few months ago, Banerjee held a meeting at Madhyamgram where she asked the administrative officers to expedite the undergoing projects.

Mamata’s three-day East Midnapore tour begins today 
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will start her three-day tour to East Midnapore on Monday. She has an elaborate plan of announcing and inaugurating some new projects and will also hold administrative and political meetings in various places of the district. The Chief Minister is scheduled to go to Nayachar and from there she will leave for Kendemari Feri ghat in Nandigram. After that, Banerjee will then go to Tekhali Bridge, which is between Nandigram and Khejuri, where she will announce a bunch of new schemes and will inaugurate some new projects. She will also go to Digha where she will spend the night. On Tuesday, the CM will hold a meeting with the administrative officials of the district. A meeting is also scheduled to take place between the Chief Minister and the elected members from the district.
