CM to hold meeting in South 24-Parganas today

The administrative meeting will take place at Raidighi, where she will take a stock of the progress of different government work. 

Apart from the district magistrate and superintendent of the police, all the BDOs will also be present at the meeting. Pradhans of all the 210 panchayats and sabhapaties of panchayat samities will be attending the meeting. All MLAs from the district will also be present. 

It is expected that the discussion on development of the tourism sector in Sunderbans will come up in the administrative meeting. Besides discussing about the development in tourism sector in Sunderbans, the matter about developing an echo-tourism park in Jharkhali may also come up in the meeting.  

According to an official in the district, apart from tourism there are many other issues which may be discussed in the meeting. 

It may be mentioned that the state government has taken up various projects for an overall development of the district. It is learnt that the Chief Minister may ask the concerned officials about the present state of their project and how long an ongoing project may take for completion. She will attend a public meeting followed by the discussion with officials from the district. 

Chief Minister will inaugurate the “Sabuj Sathi” project for the district on Monday. Newly built office of sub-divisional office at Caning will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister during her district tour. 

Residents of the district are going to get an IT college and and ITI college. Banerjee will also inaugurate the Caning IT College and Polerhat ITI College. An ICCU unit in Canning Hospital will also be inaugurated. 

Subrata Mukherjee, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Manturam Pakhira, Sunderbans Affairs Minister and Raidighi MLA Deboshree Roy will be present on the occasion.

Security in the district, where the Chief Minister will visit on Monday, has been tightened. Senior police officers held a meeting in this regard and made an elaborate arrangement to ensure that no untoward incident take place on the route through which Banerjee will pass. 

At the same time senior police officers have discussed that the arrangements should not cause any inconvenience to common people.
