Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate a land bank in South 24 Parganas on Thursday.
She will be taking the administrative meeting in the district where she will take a stock of the ongoing projects that have been taken up. Senior officials of state administration will accompany her.

During a survey the South 24 Parganas district administration found that in Sonarpur, Baruipur, Bhangar, Budge Budge and Maheshtala vast areas of vested land had remained untapped. The total quantum of such land would be around 140 acres. To take an example, there was around 100 bigha land in areas off Ruby Hospital.

Banerjee had launched a project which she named Sundarini in South 24 Parganas last year where the campaign to make the district Open Defecation Free (ODF), increase institutional delivery, drive against malnutrition among children and showcase some products of the district like honey, Joynagarer Moya were taken up. The Chief Minister will inaugurate Anandi, a mother and child care programme under Sundarini on Thursday. The percentage of institutional delivery which was 65, has gone up to 83 now. The remarkable growth has been possible because of intense campaign launched under Sundarini.

The Chief Minister will also launch a mobile app, Paramanna where by downloading the app, one will be able to get all information regarding mid-day meal. Also, they can lodge complaints about mid-day meal. In South 24 Parganas 13.5 lakh children are brought under mid day meal coverage. Five to 10,000 schools give mid day meal every day. Complaints have often been made against transparency of the system, quality of rice that is supplied. The app will remove all the doubts regarding the project.

The district has taken measures to make it ODF district. Senior officials said the administrative meetings had become very effective as the problems that often cropped up to carry out a project were resolved on the spot.
