CM remembers Sukumar Ray on his birthday

The City of Joy today silently celebrated 128th birth anniversary of the famed writer of Bengali nonsense poems Sukumar Ray, who was the father of film maestro Satyajit Ray. 

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee remembering Sukumar Ray on his birthday said the poet, story writer and playwright wrote mainly for children and set new standards in humour. 

“Remembering Sukumar Ray on his birth anniversary. His ‘chhorar kobita’ (poems) set new standards in humour and poetry,” she tweeted. 

Ray was born in 1887 and died in September 1923 and authored popular nonsense poem collection ‘Abol Tabol’ and prose for children ‘HaJaBaRaLa’.
