CM inaugurates Delhi Jal Board’s e-kiosk facility

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday inaugurated the online bill payment portal and e-kiosk bill payment facility of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) stated that days of impatient long wait at DJB Bill payment counters would never be seen again as DJB has adopted the new technology in respect of payment of bills. This would go a long way in substantially enhancing consumer satisfaction. There would be no mismatch and mistrust in all times to come.  

With commissioning of DJB online Bill Payment facility and e-kiosk facility, DJB has provided around 512 virtual payment counters across Delhi at the doorstep of the consumers.  DJB’s Revenue Management System (RMS) would provide effective, efficient and prompt metering, billing and collection services to its around 20 lakh consumers apart from online bill generation and payment of bills from hundreds of centres.  

Its online payment facility is available 24x7 which makes possible to deposit payment from any part of the world.  The number of footfall in DJB zonal offices and collection Centres would drastically come down.  Dikshit also stated that the kind of complaints which are received frequently would soon vanish. While appreciating the efforts of DJB in putting in place such a modern, convenient and scientific system, Dikshit stated that it reflects DJB’s concern for its consumers.  DJB chairperson exhorted Delhiites to understand value of water and avoid waste of water in order to restrict their bills.   

DJB officials said, that this is an important initiative taken by DJB as part of its ongoing programme  through the Re0venue Management System to facilitate the process of bill payment by its customers.

Chief minister added, ‘This is a major step taken by DJB to provide better services to the people of Delhi.  Plans are underway for providing payment of water bills through mobile phone services also’.

To avail online payment facility, consumers have to log onto the DJB portal using the new K number recorded in the bill. On validation of details the portal will display the particulars of the consumers and the bill amount. Consumers can choose to pay from different payment options including credit card, debit card or net banking. The online payment facility offers a choice of Visa/ Master Card for payment. Through net banking, 51 leading public and private sector banks have been empanelled for payment. After making the payment, the consumer is immediately intimated of the success/failure of the payment transaction and an electronic acknowledge of payment is displayed.

The consumer can also view his/her past bills, payment history, past acknowledgment receipts and grievance redressal status under his/her login ID. DJB has partnered with NSDL Database Management Limited (NDML) to provide this online bill payment facility to its consumers.

To provide fast and accurate bill payment service, the Board has also installed 37 E-Kiosks at various DJB zonal offices and collection centers for collection of water bills through cash and cheque. The E-Kiosk facility is available from 8am to 8pm on all seven days of the week. During the total period of operation an assistant will be available at the Kiosk. Hence any individual including those who are not literate, the physically challenged, senior citizens and minors can pay at their convenience.

Apart from this, bills can also be paid at 353 branches of six banks and 91 Jeevan Centres, 32 existing DJB zonal offices.

Earlier, in its landmark initiative, DJB has also waived penalty on domestic water bills on full and final payment of outstanding bills and provided two easy installment payment facilities to its consumers. This waiver has been extended till 31 December 2012.
