CM directs Wakf Board to work out formula for hike in Imams’ pay

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday directed the Delhi Wakf Board to chalk out a scientific formula for an automatic yearly hike in the remuneration for Imams in Delhi, so that they are not forced to make repeated demands for increase.  Addressing a conference of  Imams at the India Islamic Cultural Centre in the capital, Dikshit exhorted the Imams to preach for strengthening the bonds of cooperation, humanity, brotherhood between people and peace.  

Delhi Wakf Board chairperson Ch. Mateen Ahmed was also present on this occasion. The Imams felicitated  Dikshit on effecting a hike in their remuneration by the Delhi Wakf Board.  They also expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister and her government for taking this decision in their favour.
