Club directors booked for endangering customers’ lives

Five directors of an upscale club on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon (MG) Road have been booked for endangering the lives of their customers, police said on Sunday.

Charan Singh, Atul Kumar, Sarjeet Singh, Shamsher Singh and Rajesh Mann have been booked for endangering the life or safety of others, causing public nuisance and disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant under several sections of the IPC. “After finding irregularities in the club, the case was registered against the accused. We have also withdrawn the club’s NOC, issued by the police department,” a police officer said. “There were no proper arrangements to rescue visitors and club staff during an emergency, including in case of fire,” he said.

Police have also written to the excise department and Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon to review the NOCs issued by them to the club. A case has been registered at DLF-1 police station. “Our investigation is on, further legal steps will be taken soon,” the officer said.
