Class XII student held for passing lewd comments at two girls

A Class XII student was arrested on charges of passing lewd comments at two girls when they were passing from Balurghat bus stand on Thursday morning.

The accused had been following the girls for around 10 minutes and he had 

been passing lewd comments at them.

The girls initially didn’t bother and continued heading towards their destination. But the youth continued tormenting the girls.

The girls later asked the youth not to follow them.But the accused didn’t pay heed to their request.

Finally the girls approached a civic volunteer and sought his help. The civic volunteer took help of some local people and caught the youth.

The youth had even attempted to flee. But the local people didn’t allow him to go away from the spot.

Later, senior police officers went to the spot and arrested the youth based on the allegations of the girls.

Local people demanded setting up of surveillance cameras at the spot as many girls use the road to go to schools and colleges. Such incidents often take place in the area.
