Class XI student stabbed by group of boys, his friends assaulted

A 16-year-old-boy sustained injuries after he was stabbed by a group of four boys outside Vishwavidyalaya Metro station on Thursday. According to the police, the injured identified as Upendra, a class XI student of a government senior secondary school in Maurice Nagar area of North Delhi, was heading towards the Metro station with two of his friends when a group of boys allegedly assaulted them.

Sources said that in recent times, Upendra allegedly had a heated argument with a group of boys of another government school. Police, meanwhile, said that they will question Upendra and his two friends once they are fit to give statements. “In the preliminary investigation, it appears that Upendra was attacked by the boys over personal rivalry. Investigation is on,” said a senior police officer.

Police said that the incident took place at around 2.30 pm right outside the Vishwavidyalaya Metro station in North Campus. The three boys including Upendra were allegedly assaulted by three to four boys. While one of them allegedly attacked Upendra with a sharp object, the others thrashed Upendra’s friends. After stabbing Upendra, the group of boys fled from the spot.

CISF officials present inside Vishwavidyalaya Metro station were informed by the passengers who in turn rushed all the injured to the Bara Hindu Rao hospital, said police.

Doctors said that Upendra sustained stab wounds on his stomach. While two of his friends were discharged after treatment.

Police said that they are scanning the CCTV footage at the gate of Vishwavidyalaya Metro station to ascertain the exact sequence of events.

Police said that they have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC at the Maurice Nagar police station.

In a similar incident, a 34-year-old woman, a native of Shillong and a beautician was allegedly stabbed to death by her 25-year-old jilted lover at the MG Road Metro station on Monday. 

According to the police, the accused, Jitender, had been stalking her for the last few months. The incident took place in the gallery area of the Metro station, near the food stalls and a little before the security area, where Jitender allegedly assaulted Pinky Devi.
