Class II student missing

A Class II student went missing from the hostel of a residential school at Guskara in Burdwan. Police said that the boy Debraj Murmu had met his mother for the last time in evening on Sunday. Police said that his mother, Kalamani Murmu, went to the school on Monday like all other Sundays. She prepared some food from home and took it to the hostel for her son. She fed her son and spent around two hours with him. Kalamani returned home at around 6.30 pm from her son’s hostel.

Soon after entering her house, she received a phone call from the school saying that Debraj went missing. Kalamani and her husband went to the school. They spoke to the school authorities to know when they had seen their son for the last time. The school authorities lodged a complaint with the police. The boy’s parents also lodged a complaint with the police. A police officer said that they have initiated a probe in this connection.

The police asked Kalamani and her husband whether they had received any ransom call. Police also spoke to the school authorities and some friends of Debraj. But none of them managed to give any clue in this connection. The police are trying to know the activities that take place in the school in evening on Sunday and where he used to be on other days in evening. Police came to know that the gate of the school remains open in the evening for some time in evening on Sunday as people come to a Church in the premises. Police suspect that something went wrong when the gate was opened.
