City’s most wanted gangster Manjeet Mahal in police net

Almost two years after Najafgarh ex-MLA Bharat Singh was murdered, the Delhi Police Special Cell apprehended one of the most wanted gangsters of Delhi-NCR Manjeet Singh known as Manjeet Mahal involved in the murder.

Mahal is a resident of village Mitraon, Baba Haridas Nagar in Delhi and has been caught from Dwarka in Delhi. He has been involved in about two dozen cases of extortion, murder, attempt to murder and arms Act. 

He was wanted in two sensational murder cases; one of ex-MLA (Najafgarh) Bharat Singh, alias ‘Bharte’, murder case of March 2015 and  Sunil, alias ‘Doctor’s’, murder case of December 2015. A reward of Rs 50,000 was already declared by the Commissioner of Police, Delhi on his arrest.

The team of Special Cell received inputs that Manjeet Singh, who is having rivalry with Krishan Pahalwan Gang in Delhi, was roaming in the area of Delhi-NCR and was trying to procure sophisticated weapons to eliminate his rival gang members. 

This information was developed through local sources by the cops and teams were deployed in the area of Najafgarh, Dwarka, Gurgaon and Chattarpur areas to locate the hideout of the accused.

“The cops received a secret specific input that Manjeet Mahal will come to meet his associate in the area of Dwarka and a trap was laid and the dreaded criminal was arrested on Thursday. One 9 mm pistol along with 52 live cartridges were recovered from his possession,” said P S Kushwaha, DCP Special Cell.

On March 29, 2015, Ex- MLA Bharat Singh was attending a Kuwan Pujan ceremony at Abhinandan Vatika in Najafgarh where some persons fired indiscriminately on Bharat Singh and other guests. In this incident, Bharat Singh sustained bullet injuries and later died.
