‘City roads to be repaired in 3 weeks’

Roads in the national Capital which are in bad condition would be repaired within three weeks, Delhi’s PWD Minister Satyendra Jain said on Friday.

“Delhi roads which are more than 60-feet wide and bear pot holes and rough patches will be repaired within three weeks. All the roads under PWD need maintenance, so I have instructed the PWD officials to carry out repairing work on war-footing,” Jain said here at a Press conference.

Nearly 1,260 km roads which are more than 60 ft wide are managed by the Public Works Department in Delhi.

The minister said to know the condition of roads a survey was conducted by the department, which revealed that there were 1,969 rough patches on 25,500 sq metres area of the roads.

“All the 1,969 rough patches and 213 pot holes on Delhi roads will be repaired so that the commuters do not face any problem while driving. Strict instruction in this connection has been issued,” he said.

Jain also spoke about controlling the unauthorised colonies in the national Capital.

“We will make every possible effort to ensure that no more unauthorised colonies are developed in the city. Illegal construction will not be allowed,” he said.

“For this purpose we would conduct mapping of every area on monthly basis using latest technologies like drone and satellites,” Jain added.
