City may witness rain in next 2 days: MeT office

Regional Meteorological Department in Alipore has predicted that the city may receive rainfall in next two days. The MeT office also predicted the possibility of thunder storm in the city and its adjoining areas. 

The city on Friday recorded moderate rain fall of 83.5 mm at various places for over last 24 hours. Maximum temperature on Friday stood at 28.5 degrees celsius, two degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature was 23 degrees celsius. 

The MeT department has predicted that the temperature will go up by few notches in the districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar which will witness dry weather in the next 24 hours, while Gangetic region like Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24-Parganas, East and West Midnapore will see some rain. Some parts of the state may also witness thunder storm. There may be an isolated rain in Malda, Murshidabad and some parts of Burdwan. 

The sky in various parts of the state remained cloudy on Friday. 

Rainfall occurred at various parts of the city on Friday afternoon. 

According to the MeT office, a cyclonic low pressure had formed in the Gangetic area adjacent to Assam and Meghalaya. 

The districts of South Bengal may receive sporadic rains. 

Moreover, a cyclonic low pressure was also formed in Bangladesh and Chattisgarh and this double low pressure cycle which had pushed the clouds towards the Bay of Bengal and Gangetic plain. 

It caused rainfall in the city bringing down the temperature by couple of notches.
