CISF official kills self with AK-47 rifle

The official, identified as constable Mukesh Kumar (40), was allotted the 10 pm work shift and it was around 3 am that the incident was reported. He had just finished a routine patrol with a colleague and on his way to Gate no 4 of the metro station, he suddenly put his AK-47 rifle on on his head and shot himself. He received three bullet injuries on the temple of his head, said a senior police official.

He further said, Kumar’s colleague was reportedly baffled by the sudden act and didn’t get enough time to react. Kumar was rushed to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan hospital where he was declared brought dead. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has also ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Singh was a resident of Alipur in Delhi and had returned from leave on December 28. No immediate cause could be ascertained for him taking this step, the official said.

The constable had joined the paramilitary in 1997 and was deployed to secure the Airport Metro line’s New Delhi station here. He is survived by wife and two school-going children, the official added.
