CID said Hospital fire pre-planned: Mamata Banerjee

Stating that some people do politics over the incidents that had taken place in Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that preliminary report of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) suggest it to be a pre-planned one.

She said this while speaking at an administrative and co-ordination meeting for Durga Puja, Id-Ul-Zoha and Muharram. Banerjee said that she received the preliminary report of CID on Tuesday and many others had also stated the same. “We shouldn’t do politics over death of people,” she said.

It may be mentioned that on Monday while addressing the Press in Assembly, she had said that the probe would reveal who were involved in the incident. WBPCC president Adhir Chowdhury on Tuesday demanded an inquiry by either a retired or sitting High Court judge into the fire that broke out at Murshidabad Medical College and hospital on Saturday that killed three people and left some people injured. Chowdhury on Tuesday visited the hospital and talked to the staff and the attendants.

Criticising the police, he said the intensity of the disaster would have been more, had Amal Gupta not intervened and cut off the Oxygen supply. Gupta, an employee of the municipality and a local Congress leader was arrested shortly after the incident. Chowdhury said there should have been a forensic investigation into the incident.

But instead of that, the state government ordered a CID inquiry and both the CID and the hospital authorities are trying to justify the conspiracy theory of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“It is most unfortunate that the chief minister had made a comment when the investigation is on and the investigating officers are now trying to justify her statement just to remain in her good book.”
