CID receives data related to work order given to Jessop by Railways

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) received data related to the work order given to Jessop by the Railways to deliver train coaches.

The Ministry of Railways have provided the data to the investigating agency after machineries and equipment was found missing from the factory, sources said.

It is learnt that senior officers of CID had approached the railways for the data after a joint inspection was carried out by their officers in the Jessop factory. The inspection had revealed that machineries and equipment were missing from the factory. The Railways had claimed that three rakes were also missing from the factory.

It may be mentioned that Jessop had bagged a work order of Rs 92 crore to deliver coaches to the Railways.

Sources said that the Railways have provided detailed information to the CID.

The data include the work that Pawan Ruia’s Jessop was supposed to do, the extent of work that was done, the number of rakes sent to the Jessop factory by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited for the project and the money that the company had received.

According to a senior officer of CID, videography of the interior of the factory at present has been done on Friday during the inspection and details of the machineries present inside now has also been taken.

Though the Railways authorities have calculated that material worth around Rs 50 crore is missing from the factory, a proper tally would reveal the exact amount of material that went missing. The tally would be done using the data provided by the Railways.

Meanwhile, the CID is waiting for the hearing on its plea against Ruia’s non-cooperation with them to probe into the incident of repeated fire in the factory.

CID officers had moved before the Barrackpore Court on Saturday submitting that Ruia didn’t turn up for interrogation.
