CID arrests brother of GJMM office bearer

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday night arrested the brother of an office bearer of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJMM) in connection with the case of smuggling fire arms from Nagaland.

Sources said that Bijoy Rai (36) was arrested from Darjeeling. Sanjay Rai alias Tulung an office bearer of GJMM was arrested earlier in similar connection. Police came to know about Sanjay after interrogating Ganesh Maity and Umesh Karmi, who were arrested by Assam Police while smuggling fire arms including AK-47s. 

He was remanded in police custody for six days. In connection with another incident, Lukas Baso was arrested from Kumargram on charges of smuggling narcotics substances. Around 25 kg of ganja was seized from him. He had contacts with the accused of a rhino poaching racket.
