Chong Wei aims to reclaim title

World No.1 shuttler Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia is aiming to reclaim his title at the forthcoming India Open which he won in 2011.

The two-time Olympic silver medallist said he is excited about playing the Indian leg of the BWF World Super Series starting here at the Siri Fort Complex from April 23 to 28.

‘I’m training extra for India Open and hoping to win the tournament. I am excited about playing the tournament because there are so many badminton fans and supporters in India,’ said Chong Wei, who recently became father. The Malaysian champion added that Indian badminton has undergone a dramatic transformation and is fast becoming a favourite destination for the sport.

‘Indian badminton has improved a lot and there are so many young players coming up.’  Commenting on his arch-rivalry with two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan of China, the World No.1 said: ‘I stick to my usual game every time I face Lin Dan. Maybe I have to push myself a little and be faster.’
