Chinese V-P in city for 2-day visit

Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao arrived on Wednesday on a two-day visit to the city as part of his tour to India. Yuanchao, who arrived here from Aurangabad, was received at the NSC Bose International Airport by West Bengal Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim and Chinese Consul General in Kolkata. State secretariat officials said that Li would leave for Delhi after staying overnight and attending three programmes on Thursday.   Li would visit the ancestral house of Rabindra Nath Tagore at Jorasanko, meet West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi at the Raj Bhavan over lunch and later Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Eco-Park at New Town on Thursday before leaving for Delhi. Li’s five-day visit to India from November 3 is aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries, Chinese Foreign Ministry sources had said earlier. During his stay in India, Li will hold talks with the top Indian leadership including his Indian counterpart Hamid Ansari.
