Chief Minister’s Super Talented Children Scholarship launched

Delhi government on Friday launched ‘Chief Minister’s Super Talented Children Scholarship’ scheme under which students studying in Class 11 and 12 will be provided ‘free coaching classes’ to crack various engineering and medical entrance exams.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that under the scheme, the government has decided to identify the most talented students and to provide professional coaching and guidance to enable them admission to premier engineering and medical institutions of the country.

“Education department will conduct screening test for Class XI and XII science stream students studying in Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya and 54 model Delhi government schools (being started as pilot scheme) within a week. 250 students of Class XI will be selected in premier coaching institutes for medical and engineering tests.

“Further 150 students of Class XII will also be selected this year. The government has shortlisted three premier institutions-Vidyamandir, FIITJEE and Aakash as <g data-gr-id="30">pilot</g> project in this regard,” Sisodia told a press conference here.

He said each class XI student will undergo an intensive training of, at least, 850 hours at the designated training institute closest to his/her residence.

The institute will provide the same online/printed study material, assignments, tests which it provides to its regular students.

“Government will provide free coaching classes through premier coaching institutes to crack various exams-IIT/JEE/AIPMT,” Sisodia said.

“The premier coaching institutes have agreed to provide same facilities and training to the Delhi government students roughly around one-third of their normal fees.  The entire cost will be borne by the Delhi government,” he said.
