Chief Minister to inaugurate Phase II of Mother’s Wax Museum today

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the Phase II of Mother’s Wax Museum in New Town on Friday.

She will open Phase II of the museum by pressing the remote button from the dais of 22nd Kolkata 
International Film Festival scheduled to be held at Netaji Indoor Stadium on Friday.

It may be recalled that exactly two years ago, on November 10, 2014 she had inaugurated the only museum of its kind in the state by pressing the remote button at the 20th KIFF held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.

Subsequently she visited the museum. Over the past two years, the Wax Museum has become an important tourist destination with the footfall touching 3.25 lakh.

There will be a Hollywood section where the wax statues of great stars of recent past will be kept.

The visitors will be able to go to the new arena after visiting the existing museum.

Taking selfies with friends and acquaintances in the backdrop of some importance person, scene, statues of famous persons, historical monuments or buildings has become 
quite popular among the youths globally.

For them, the replica of a stage from where the Academy Award of Merit commonly known as Oscar is presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to the artists has been created.
A famous architect firm has been entrusted with the job. The first Oscar awards were presented in 1929 in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and till 2015, 2,947 Oscar awards have been awarded.

There will be a zone where there will be statues of great personalities of Bengal in the 19th and 20th century.

There will also be a children’s section where there will be statues of Harry Potter and Mr Bean among 
others that are very popular among children. There will be a zone for “Alien” like characters created by famous film director Steven Spielberg in series of films like Close Encounters of the Third Kind or ET.

There will be a scary zone or screaming zone where a visitor can suddenly find a ghostly figure appearing beside them.

There will be special light effects and the ambience will be artificially created for the zone. The visitor can also have a wax casting of their hands.
