‘Chemistry cannot be worked upon’

‘Chemistry is not something you can work on. It is either there or it isn’t,’ declares Chitrangada Singh who is off late being lauded for her sizzling chemistry with Arjun Rampal in the first look of her upcoming film Inkaar.

Chitrangada is looking forward to this new pairing with Rampal. With Inkaar, she also gets the chance to work with her mentor Sudhir Mishra all over again. ‘We share a great comfort level. It is great working with him again,’ says the Delhi girl.

Visiting the Capital, the actor — who is often compared to Smita Patil — says she is enjoying the Delhi winters. ‘The way Delhi smells in winters is different. It is the strongest memory in my mind,’ she recalls fondly of her days spent here.

Chitrangada says she is having a gala time working with Rampal on the sets of Inkaar. The duo was recently asked to roam about the town while their activities were  secretly filmed by the crew in Bangkok. And the posters speak volumes about their chemistry already.

So what, according to her, is chemistry? Chitrangada describes it as energy. ‘It is how you play off each other. You need to have a certain amount of comfort level and some tentativeness. There also has to be some mutual interest levels,’ she tells Millennium Post.

Then why is it that real-life couples often flop in reel life? Chitrangada feels it is tough to point out one reason. ‘For chemistry, there needs to be emotional, physical and sexual tension. That comes if you are not in a relationship. With marriage comes comfort and that interferes with the tension,’ she clarifies.

The actor is all praise for Rampal in Inkaar. ‘He looks good and has performed well,’ she says. The film is a relationship drama that deals with sexual harassment in the workplace.

Apart from the shooting, food and shopping kept Chitrangada busy in Bangkok. She says she gorged on the streetfood. ‘I love to have Thai food and orange juice off the streets when I am there. Also the watermelon juice,’ she says. And what did she buy? ‘Regular street clothes and body scrubs,’ she adds happily.
