Charge-sheet filed against Mahmood Farooqui in rape case

Mahmood Farooqui, co-director of Bollywood movie Peepli Live, was on Wednesday charge-sheeted by 

Delhi Police for allegedly raping an American research scholar at his residence here.

The charge sheet was filed in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Devender Kumar Garg, who took cognizance of it and posted the matter for further hearing on August 1.

In its charge-sheet, police <g data-gr-id="13" style="color: #3b3b3b; font-size: 11px;">has</g> alleged that Farooqui had raped a 30-year-old research scholar from Colombia University at his Sukhdev Vihar house on March 28 this year.

The charge sheet has been filed for the alleged offences punishable under sections 376 (rape) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the IPC.
