Chandigarh coldest at 2.3 C as cold wave engulfs north

Union Territory Chandigarh recorded its coldest night of the season at 2.3 degrees Celsius as cold wave conditions continued to sweep most parts of Punjab and Haryana, MeT officials said on Sunday.

In Haryana, Hisar reeled under piercing chill at 3.1 deg C, down three notches than normal, while Ambala’s minimum settled at 3.5 deg C, also down three degrees than normal level, the MeT Department said.

Chandigarh recorded its coldest night of the season so far as temperature dipped four degrees below normal, officials said.

The temperature in Karnal settled at 4 deg C, two degrees below normal, they said.

Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala, which was covered by fog in the morning, also continued to be under the grip of biting cold recording respective below normal minimum temperatures of 3.6 degree C, 3.7 degree C and 3.6 degree C.
