Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh on Saturday presided over the cabinet meeting held at Mantralaya in Naya Raipur.

In the meeting, cabinet okayed the formation of students union in colleges and universities through electoral system from year 2014-15. Chhattisgarh is the only state, which has adopted the cluster approach for operating city bus services. Nine SPV will be formed for the cities in different areas. The plan of connecting link cities through cluster approach will prove beneficial for the public. For example, Mana Camp, Birgaon Aarang and other areas will be connected along with Raipur. State-level urban vigilance committee will be constituted for looking after the transport system in cities.

Cabinet has also decided to extend the work period of tehsil and block reorganisation commission. In view of model code of conduct imposed earlier, submission of report by 31 March 2014 was not possible. Hence, the proposal to extend the work period of the commission till 30 June 2014 has been approved. The amount of financial aid, provided under revenue book circular RBC 6-4 for the damage caused by natural calamities, has also been increased by the cabinet.
