CESC starts electricity distribution in Rajasthan

The Rs 17,000 crore RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group has begun its electricity distribution operation at Kota, Rajasthan from Thursday. Aniruddha Basu, Managing Director, CESC said in Kota on Thursday that two wholly-owned subsidiaries of CESC Rajasthan Limited have been formed for Kota and Bharatpur. Both will distribute electricity to these two growing cities for a period of 20 years.

According to A N Singh, CEO, CESC Rajasthan, “Distribution operations at nearby Bharatpur will follow soon. The Kota distribution franchise is spread over 150 sq.km and has 1.76 lakh registered consumers (FY 2014-15). The consumer base grew 7 per cent (FY 2014-15), as compared to the previous year. The number of HT consumers stands at 314.”

“At Kota we will follow CESC’s customer-centric initiatives to provide best-in-class services to power consumers by developing and modernising the city’s distribution systems”, Basu said. He also announced that citizens of Kota will be provided with immediate new connections. They will benefit from the proactive complaint management from CESC which currently has more than 3 million consumers in its licensed area in Kolkata and adjacent area.
