Centre to pump more funds to DONER, NEC

The Centre would pump more funds to the Ministry of DONER and the North Eastern Council (NEC) for the development of the region, Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal said here on Monday.

“I can assure you that in the supplementary demand or in the next budget your NEC or DoNER will get more funds,” Meghwal told reporters after a review meeting at NEC here.

He said that if you are facing some shortage of funds, the Centre will provide supplementary funds.

As the Parliament session would begin from November 16, “I will ask the department to put up a supplementary demand so that we pass it in the upcoming session of the Parliament and NEC can get more funds,” Meghwal said.

The minister said that he would also discuss with the finance department for providing more budget through DoNER to NEC in order to ensure proper implementation of infrastructure sector like road, transport and Digital India programme.

To a question, he said that NEC is proposing around Rs 2000 crore for the next budget for various fields.
