Centre asks states to brace for deficient rains

 With the MeT office, indicating below normal <g data-gr-id="9">rainacross</g> the country in the coming monsoon season, the Centre has asked the states to prepare to deal with the situation and take up works under the rural job scheme MNREGA. 

In an advisory to states, including Kerala, the Rural Development Ministry has said maximum works might be undertaken under MNREGA for effective harvesting of rain water. “The latest forecast by the IMD indicates that rains could be below average this monsoon due to an impact of El Nino weather pattern, which can bring a dry spell in the region,” warns the Ministry in its advisory.
