Celebrations at Delhi BJP office; Cong office wears sad look

Party workers throwing colours at each other and dancing tirelessly to the beating of drums -- the Delhi BJP office today wore a carnival look throughout the day as it emerged victorious in the civic polls.
However, the Delhi Congress office was a study in contrast with the few party workers gathered there appearing dejected and not quite in the mood to analyse the drubbing the party got in the polls.
At the BJP office on Pandit Pant Marg, workers started celebrating victory early on as the trends started coming in, bursting fire crackers and throwing colours at each other and were joined later by elated candidates who won the polls.
While party workers shook their legs to loud drum beats and celebrations were in full swing, Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta said, "Our motive is not just limited to ensuring cleanliness and better roads for Delhi. We aim to guarantee transparent and scam free MCD."
Gupta was a much relieved man as he was at the receiving end of party workers following ticket distributions. Those who were denied party tickets rebelled against party decisions.
BJP veteran and Delhi Leader of Opposition V K Malhotra said anti-incumbency was against the Congress government in Delhi and the centre. The trifurcation of MCD has not helped the Congress get any political advantage."
BJP National Secretary Vani Tripati was another leader who joined the celebrations.
As party workers competed with each other to congratulate a winning BJP candidate Anita Sharma from Timarpur, who was among the first to reach the party office, said, "we will ensure that women security issues are dealt on priority basis among other demanding issues."
