CBI separately probing financial side in Sheena case: Official

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is separately probing the financial angle in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case, in which former media baron Peter Mukerjea and his wife Indrani are among the accused, a top agency official said on Tuesday.

“We are separately probing the financial angle in the Sheena Bora murder case,” the official said.

Indrani’s former husband Sanjeev Khanna and ex-driver Shyam Rai are also accused in the case, in which the agency has filed two charge-sheets. All accused are in jail under judicial custody.

Sheena, Indrani’s daughter from an earlier relationship, was murdered on April 24, 2012, and her body was burnt before it was dumped in a forest in adjoining Raigad district of Maharashtra. The murder came to light in August last and it was initially probed by the Mumbai Police, before being handed over to the CBI in September.

In the second charge-sheet filed in mid-February, the CBI claimed Sheena was killed as her 

relationship with Rahul, Peter’s son, was strongly disapproved by his father and Indrani.
