CBI sacks prosecutor alleged of sharing 2G trial info with accused

The Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) on Monday said that following reports of a Public Prosecutor, alleged to be discussing certain points regarding prosecution strategy with an accused in the 2G spectrum allocation case, has been removed from the 2G case trial’s prosecution team. The case is currently undertrial in Patiala House courts in New Delhi.

The CBI spokesperson added that a preliminary inquiry has also been registered by CBI to verify these allegations and the court has been informed of the developments. Besides, another prosecutor has been appointed to to the team to assist in the ongoing trial.

Earlier, there were media reports about a possible collusion between the prosecution and the accused in the case, which is being monitored by the Supreme Court.

The CBI said that the agency possess audio recordings with the suspected voices of the prosecutor and the accused. According to the CBI the prosecutor shared the legal strategy with the accused.
