CBI registers case against Sagar University former-VC, 5 others

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered cases against the former Vice-Chancellor beside five other Professors of Dr Hari Singh Gour Central University at Sagar in Madhya Pradesh and members of selection committees in connection with allegations about the appointment of ineligible candidates to the posts of Assistant Professors.
The allegations relate to appointments in the Departments of Biotechnology in violation of the regulations of the University Grants UGC and the conditions mentioned in the Recruitment Advertisement.
CBI sleuths has conducted raids at nine places in the residential and office premises of the accused persons at Sagar (Madhya Pradesh), Kanpur, Karnal and Nagpur. “We have registered a case against the former VC; then Professor, Department of Chemistry; then HOD, Department of Botany; then Head, Department of Biotechnology; then Professor, Department of Zoology; then Professor, Department of Applied Geology; then Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, all of Dr. Hari Singh Gour Central University, Sagar and others,” CBI statement reads.
“There are allegations that all of them including members of screening selection committee entered into a criminal conspiracy in 2013 with the non-eligible candidate and selected non-eligible candidate who was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Biotechnology department in the recruitment against the vacant Self Finance post in the University,” it further reads.
