CBI registers case against Cotton Corporation of India officials

The CBI has registered a case against a group of Cotton Corporation of India Ltd officials including purchase officer K Nagamangeshwar Rao in Warangal (Telangana)

“Also cases were registered against unknown officials of Agriculture Market Committee, and unknown commission agents, on the orders of the Hon’ble High Court of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh,” CBI statement reads.

It was alleged that several irregularities took place in the implementation of Government scheme “Minimum Support Price” (MSP) during the period 2004-07 in Cotton Corporation of India in Warangal and Karimnagar Districts. In this case, searches are being conducted on Thursday at 20 different places in Hyderabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, Guntur, Mumbai and Nagpur.

So far, during the searches at the residence of the then Cotton Purchase Officer, Cotton Corporation of India Ltd, Warangal resulted in the recovery of cash of Rs. 30 lakhs (approx); 3 kgs (approx) of Gold biscuits and about 30 kgs (approx) of silver biscuits apart from huge land and property documents Further huge investments from other places in the name of other officers of Cotton Corporation of India are also under examination.
