CBI raids several offices of Infinity Realcon Ltd

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday raided several places in West Bengal and Odisha in connection with its ongoing probe in the multi-crore-rupee chit fund scam.

The raids were carried out at several residences and offices of chit fund company Infinity Realcon Ltd, which has duped thousands of investors in both the states.

CBI sources said the raids were conducted at the residences and the offices of the company’s directors Pranob Mukherjee, Sarbari Mukherjee, Prabir Mukherjee, Soumen Mallick and Partha Pratim Mukherjee.

CBI teams raided 17 places in West Bengal and two in Odisha. The CBI was directed by the Supreme Court in May 2014 to probe the companies involved in chit fund scam. At present, various trial courts across Bengal are dealing with chit fund cases. However, the CBI wants three special courts in Kolkata to deal with such cases.

A total of 246 cases have been registered by the CBI against 128 companies, including Saradha Group, Rose Valley, Unipay 2 U, Jeevan Suraksha, Prayag, Abyss Assam Group Co, Basil International Limited and Daffodils Group of Companies.
